With regard to re-editing a paper, we use the following guidelines:
- If you make changes to the document because the proofreader has misunderstood any points in your original document, then there is no charge for further correction to complete the document to your satisfaction.
- If you add additional text but the remainder of the document is unchanged, then the additional words are added to the word count of the original document and charged at the standard rate.
- If you make additions and revisions throughout the document, then the charge is 50% of the standard rate. We offer the discount of 50% when we check the same document for a second time (such as when a journal requires changes to the document).
The discount does not apply if the document has been completely rewritten, such as when it will be submitted to a different journal. We reserve the right not to offer the discount if we consider the changes too extensive; to qualify for the discount, no more than 50% of the document can have changed.
The 50% discount applies to the wordcount received on the second occasion.
If the revised document is longer than the original document, then the discount will be applied to the original wordcount. For example, if a 2000-word document is resubmitted as a 3000-word document, then 2000 words will be at -50% and 1000 words will be at the standard rate.
